2018 CGTF & USGTF Teachers Cup

We are very pleased to host the United States Golf Teachers Federation members in Niagara Falls, Ontario, in conjunction with our annual year-end event.  This first-of-its-kind event will take place October, 2018.  It is open to all WGTF members in good standing.

There are many reasons for choosing Niagara Falls this prestigious event.  It is a border town and tourist city/region that offers a variety of accommodations, entertainment, and of course, great golf.  Entertainment includes family-geared fun at the two indoor water-parks and the Clifton Hill amusement area.  Adults can enjoy the city nightlife, the two casinos, and of course, the falls themselves that draw millions of tourists each year.

The nearby airports also make it very attractive.  Pearson and Hamilton Airports are relatively close by for Canadian travelers, but for any Americans wishing to fly in, they can travel to Buffalo Niagara International Airport, which is less than 30 minutes away, with lower fares compared to flying into Canada.

The format of this event will include some new ideas and some returning valued components of our recent CGTF events that have been popular with the participants.  A discussion was held with competitors at the end of our 2017 tournament to see what changes they would welcome

and what they felt made it a great value.  Having this knowledge will definitely help us to keep the standards high in offering the 2018 version.  If you are able to join us Niagara Falls this October, you won’t be disappointed!

Dates – October 1, 2 and 3, 2018

October 1 – Can-AM Blind Partner Fourball Championship

October 2 and 3 –  CGTF Cup (CGTF members) and the United States Golf Teachers Cup and United States Senior Golf Teachers Cup (USGTF members)

Legends on the Niagara – Ussher’s Creek Course

All three rounds will be played on the Ussher’s Creek Course.

Day 1 Can-AM Blind Partner Fourball Championship

This event is designed to be a fun day.  However, it has the potential to meet several objectives both organizations value in any of our hosted events.  We wish to create new networking opportunities for everyone, so by replacing a typical practice round with this format, we feel you will have a chance to learn from random colleagues more advantageously than you would from playing with the same group as in years’ gone by.  Considerations for uneven number of participants by country are going to be handled by ensuring no one will be partnered with someone from the same province or state.

Day 2 & 3 2018 CGTF Cup and United States Golf Teachers Cup and United States Senior Golf Teachers Cup

All three national championships will held in unison.  Divisions will include Open, Senior, Super Senior and Women’s for the CGTF Cup, a separate division for ladies in the United States Golf Teachers Cup, and the United States Senior Golf Teachers Cup will include Super Senior and Legends divisions.  We are recognizing a North American champion for the overall low gross score for the two days.  Prize money will based on the participation in each division and by each federation.  Second-day play will be determined by score of the previous round.  Tee times will be drawn at random for day number one by division.

Marriott on the Falls has rooms for $279 per night and the Marriott Fallsview Hotel  & Spa has rates beginning at $219 per night (all rates are Canadian currency).  The Clifton Victoria Inn has rates of $159 and $209 for Friday and Saturday, respectively, and $92 per night starting on Sunday night.  The Skyline Hotel has a rate of $119 for Friday and Saturday night and $79 starting on Sunday night.
