High
winds and tough conditions weren't too much for Jamie Cowan of Kitchener,
Ontario to handle. Cowan, son of legendary Canadian Amateur champion
Gary Cowan, fired a 2-over-par 74 to take overall honors at the
Canadian Golf Teachers Cup Monday, September 25, held at the Crosswinds
Golf Club in Burlington, Ontario.
Connie Deckert, from Waterloo, Ontario fired an 82 to take top
honors in the Women's division.
The event, the national championship of the Canadian Golf Teachers
Federation (CGTF), featured a full field of 90 golf teaching professionals
from as far west as Vancouver, British Columbia, and as far east
as Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Jeremy Dueck of Calgary, Alberta, and Scott Yourth of Waterloo,
Ontario, finished tied for runner-up honors. Cowan, Dueck, and Yourth
will represent Team Canada at the 8th biennial World Golf Teachers
Cup to be held in Primm, Nevada, in 2007.
John Kachmar, Vancouver, British Columbia, took top honours in
the Senior division, and Sam Fujii, Toronto, Ontario, is the Super
Senior champion.
The Canadian Golf Teachers Cup is held annually, alternating between
