The Standard for Canadian Golf Teachers Federation


Thank you for your interest in becoming a golf teaching professional. Teaching golf, the "Profession of a Lifetime," offers you many opportunities in the fast-growing golf industry. You can learn every facet of teaching  the game at our convenient, six-day certification courses held each month throughout Canada. 

Every facet of the game is comprehensively covered, so you feel comfortable in both written and teaching situations. In addition, you will enjoy the relaxing learning environment, with individual attention from our experienced staff.

The Canadian Golf Teachers Federation was established to provide this kind of top-quality, extensive training to individuals who seek careers in the golf teaching industry.


Your certification course will include the following phases:

  1. Teaching you how to teach (primary objective)
  2. Improving your own game
  3. Playing ability test (2 rounds of 83 or less on a par 72 championship course) combined score of 166 or less; For women, 2 rounds of 85 or less; (combined score of 170). Senior division: Men - ages 50-59: 168, ages 60-69: 172, age 70: over 176. Women - ages 50-59: 172, age 60: over 176 ( The playing ability test takes place during the week of certification on Friday and Saturday)
  4. Written rules test 
  5. Verbal teaching based on detection and correction of swing errors along with what has been taught to you during the course of the week.

*USE OF VIDEO is also utilized as a learning aid.

When you complete the course successfully, you become a certified member of the Canadian Golf Teachers Federation, and receive a membership card that is recognized worldwide. You also receive a Certificate of Certification that is presented to all successful candidates. Plus, you are eligible to take advantage of the many benefits that are available exclusively to all members of the Canadian Golf Teachers Federation and World Golf Teachers Federation.
