Our Mission

The Canadian Golf Teachers Federation was founded and incorporated in 1992.  It is a member of the World Golf Teachers Federation, the largest organization of golf teaching professionals in the world.  The  CGTF main office is located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. The aim of the CGTF is to train and certify well qualified teaching professionals to serve the Canadian golfing public.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Canadian Golf Teaching Federation, through innovative, effective swing mechanics, and teaching methodology, establishes a national and international standard in training and certification for professional golf teachers. In addition, the CGTF provides services for its members and promotes the organization and the golf teaching profession.

The amateur division of the CGTF is the National Golf Teachers Federation. The members in this division retain their amateur status by not accepting monetary compensation for lessons or tournament play.

People who wish to become members of the CGTF must pass one of the 7-day certification courses that are held at various location across Canada each year. Upon becoming a member, each person receives the latest information on ongoing education and membership news via Golf Teaching Pro Magazine, our official membership publication.

There are appointed representatives to the National Board of Directors.  They lend their expertise and advice to the home office, which conducts the affairs and business of the CGTF.

In addition to the administrative committees, there are several special interest committees to assist in the operation of the CGTF.

  • National Technical Committee- A group of members who meet annually to discuss and make decision regarding course content, manual content and technical doctrine.
  • Regional Committee- Serve regional needs through regional events, meetings and tournaments.
  • International Committee- Fostering and maintaining a relationship with other golfing nations.
